Text Box: Los Lunas- Wal-Marts latest supercenter opened, and about 500 workers will staff the new center. Home improvement retailer Home Depot opened a new store and has 110 Text Box: Taos- Penncro Associates Inc. Financial Services Company plans to add about 100 more workers. Starting salaries for employees is $7.00 per hour with a 50-cent raise after 90 Text Box: Santa Fe- Applied Biosystems has closed its Santa Fe biotechnology research facility. In December, Applied Biosystems laid off about 500 workers at its facilities in other locations. About 40 people, mostly software engineers, were employed in the Text Box: Farmington- Eighteen employees will staff the newly opened Coyote’s Super Buffet located in the Anasazi Inn. The restaurant features a variety of Chinese food items on the buffet line as well as menu items. 
Text Box: Alamogordo-Sixty-seven workers lost their jobs when the Albertson’s Grocery Store in Alamogordo was closed in late January. 
Text Box: Gallup- The Kmart store in Gallup is closing eliminating about 70 jobs.
Text Box: Grants-Movie Gallery, which offers Grants area residents a choice of 6,000 to 7,000 VCR tapes, DVD’s and video games, recently opened a new store and employs about 8 to 10 people.
Text Box: Roswell- EDA awarded a $1.5 million grant to Roswell. The funds will be used to upgrade the fire suppression system in the city owned building used by Dean Baldwin Paint. With the improvements, the firm will have the potential to add 120 Text Box: Albuquerque- Sandia Healthcare Systems will lay off about 75 people acquired in the purchase the St. Joseph Healthcare system. Most of the positions affected are for service staff and administrative support. Positions for nurses and physicians will not be cut. About 50 employees were affected when Seagull Street Restaurant closed on February 15.
