Text Box: Albuquerque- To help cope with a $40 million budget shortfall, Albuquerque Public School will eliminate 83 jobs and impose an immediate hiring freeze. Premier Motors is moving to a new location, and will add about 30 more employees by next year. About 50 civilians will provide security at Kirtland Air Force Base, freeing military personnel for other missions.  MCI has closed its Albuquerque call center eliminating 800 jobs. Eclipse is developing a six-seat business jet that will be priced at about $1 million, and plan to add about 300 jobs over the next three years. The state’s largest country and western dance hall, Midnight Rodeo, has closed eliminating 60 Text Box: Reserve-  TFA Inc. Is getting Catron County back into the timber business, hiring five workers to reopen a mill at the site of the long closed Stone Container sawmill. 
Text Box: Artesia-Dollar General, a discount variety store, opened an 8,100-square-foot store at 1010 South 13th Street in Artesia. The store features snacks, health and beauty items, housewares, basic apparel and seasonal items. About 6 to 10 people will be employed at the store.
Text Box: Silver City- Phelps Dodge has reconsidered its decision to reopen the Cobre Mine and will instead expand operations at the Chino mine and milling facility. The Chino Mine added over 120 workers last year and will now add about another 50. 
Text Box: Gallup- Two new motels are under construction including a Hampton Inn Suites and a Hampton Inn. Each of the new motels will have a staff of about 20 people. Rehoboth McKinley Christian Health Care Services is closing its inpatient psychiatric units at Behavioral Health Services. The closure will eliminate about 48 full-and part-time jobs. 
Text Box: Tucumcari- Representatives from Cielo Land and Cattle Company said that they would develop another "wind farm" in Quay County. The new wind power generating facility will be built on 1840 acres southeast of Tucumcari. The facility would have 80 wind turbines and will produce about 67 new jobs. 
Text Box: Bernalillo-The Sandoval County Commission is considering a budget that authorizes the creation of more than 60 new positions that will either be with the new Sandoval County Detention Center or the Sheriffs Department.  Stainless Motors owner, John Oleson, decided to move his business from California to Rio Rancho, and persuaded 12 of his 14 employees to move with him. Recently, the state's Job Training Incentive Board approved training funds for the company to add four additional New Mexico workers to his payroll.
Text Box: Santa Fe- New Mexico's old main penitentiary in Santa Fe will be used in the filming of  the "The Longest Yard." Incentives offered by the state influenced the decision to shoot the picture in New Mexico. About 150 to 200 New Mexicans will be employed to work on the film.
Text Box: Socorro- Construction is underway for the new Wal-Mart store in Socorro. There are about 20 to 40 people working on the construction site at any one time. The store will be staffed by about 200 workers.
